
Kelly Clarkson, in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson, (born April 24, 1982, Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.), American musician, singer and television personality who came to prominence as a pop rock star following her win in the TV talent show American Idol in 2002. Clarkson was born at Burleson (Texas) located in an area near Fort Worth. Her vocal abilities were noticed when she was seven years of age by the teacher who taught choir at the school she attended. Clarkson quit high school in order to go into Los Angeles where she failed to break into the industry of entertainment. When she returned to Texas, she became a contestant on the first season of the Fox Broadcasting Company's American Idol, a singing competition where viewers could choose their favorite performer. The viewers were in love with Clarkson's arresting vocals, charisma and sense of humour. Clarkson took home $1 million and an agreement recording with RCA in the prize.
